Connecting Preformatted Excel Files in SmartList

Do you know that you can connect preformatted Excel files in Smartlist so that you can run detailed analysis in Excel without having to build from scratch all you pivot tables, pivot charts and any other types of analysis?

How? Fairly simple. Here are the instructions to follow:

  1. Open SmartList, click on the SmartList menu at the top and select “Export Solutions”
  2. Click “New” and select the SmartList query to which you want to associate an Excel file.
  3. Fill out the requested information
  4. Preparation and completion macros are Excel macros that, as an example, can automatically refresh the data from your SmartList in your Excel spreadsheet, followed by an update of all your associated Pivot Tables & Charts.
  5. Click “Save” and you’re done!
  6. Reopen SmartList and select the query to which you have associated an Excel Spreadsheet. When you click on the Excel button at the top (you won’t have the Advanced SmartList Excel button, if not installed), you now have your file to select
